Mildred A. Killinger's Obituary
Mildred A. Killinger (Midge Durham Anderson), age 86, of Lewes, DE passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. She was born on September 12, 1928 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Gordon Francis and Iva (Connor) Durham.
Mrs. Killinger graduated from Wilmington High School in 1945. She worked at Shoprite in Ogletown, DE for several years and later at the DuPont Country Club where she worked catering events. She was a member of the "Girls Club" which was a group of her best friends that got together to enjoy some fun. Mrs. Killinger was the center wheel of the group and even after 60 years the "Girls Club" still gathering today.
Mrs. Killinger was the Matriarch of her family who always kept in touch with all the family members and knew the details of everything that was going on. She dearly loved her family especially her grandbabies who were the apple of her eyes. Mrs. Killinger enjoyed cooking, sometimes spending all day preparing delicious meals for her family. She loved family functions from decorating the Christmas tree with extra tinsel to Easter egg hunts. She also enjoyed going to happy hour, having a glass of beer with crabs, playing cards, joking and having a good laugh with close company. Mrs. Killinger will be remembered for her zest for life like no one else and her positive attitude.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Killinger was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur John Anderson, Jr. in 1981 and her second husband, Joseph Michael Killinger in 2002; two sons: Arthur John Anderson, III and Robert Jeffrey Anderson; three brothers, Clarence, Gordon and George Durham and a sister, Mabel Blair. She is survived by her son, Stephen E. Anderson and his wife Lezlie of Lewes, DE; a daughter, Dawn A. Fehrenbach and her partner Patrick M. Smith of Lewes, DE; a daughter-in-law, Toni Ann Reed of Newark, DE; a brother, Albert Smith and his wife Barbara of Harbeson, DE; a sister-in-law, Joann Durham of Wilmington, DE; seven grandchildren: Ashley Wilson and her husband Trevor, Aryn Anderson, Jaime Anderson, Kelly Fehrenbach and her fiancé Frank Saracco, Justin Fehrenbach and his fiancée Brianna Rovinskie, Chase Fehrenbach and Mackenzie Smith; and two great-grandchildren: Kingston Fehrenbach and Raleigh Saracco.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow services at All Saints Cemetery, 20274 Beaver Dam Road at Rt. 23, Harbeson, DE.
