Michelle J. Bright-Heuring's Obituary
Shelley Bright-Heuring, a beloved Rehoboth Beach business owner, friend, and community fixture, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, surrounded by family, after a short and unexpected illness.
Born on February 8, 1970, in Dover, Delaware, Shelley spent her adult life in Rehoboth Beach, a town she came to call home and helped define for so many others. For more than three decades, Shelley was a familiar and welcoming presence on the corner of First Street and Wilmington Avenue, where she and her husband, Tim, owned and operated The Edge, a local landmark they ran together since 1989. Known affectionately by many as “Shelley, the blonde from The Edge,” she was far more than a shop owner—she was a connector, a listener, and a constant in the lives of residents, visitors, and generations of loyal customers.
Shelley had a magnetic spirit and an unmistakable zest for life. She loved music, laughter, and a good time, and she lived fully and unapologetically. She was also a devoted animal lover and a proud “fur mom,” caring deeply for her pets and advocating for them with the same loyalty she showed the people she loved.
Shelley took countless people under her wing over the years, helping newcomers find their footing and making Rehoboth feel like home. To many, she was more than a friend—she was family.
Shelley is survived by her husband of 28 years, Tim Heuring; her twin-flame sister, Marlo Bright (Antoine Vann), her father, Dan Marsh, siblings Mikey Bright (Katie Croenne), DJ Marsh (Ashley Marsh) & Kari Walker (Joe Perkins) as well as cousins, nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, close friends, and the many loyal customers whose lives she touched.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, December 29, from 2:30–4:00 p.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where Shelley’s urn will be present. There will be no formal service. A “Shellabration of Life” will immediately follow at Crooked Hammock, where friends, family, and community members are invited to gather, tell stories, have a drink for Shelley and honor her spirit.
For those unable to attend the Shellabration on December 29, the family invites the community to join in honoring Shelley at The Edge’s New Year’s Day Penny Sale, which will be dedicated to her memory. Shelley’s store helped define who she was, and there is no doubt she will be there in spirit—just as she always was.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local SPCA in Shelley’s name.
Shelley’s warmth, humor, generosity, and spirit will be deeply missed, but her presence will forever remain in the heart of Rehoboth Beach and all who were lucky enough to know her.
