Michael Stephen Moshos' Obituary
Michael Moshos departed this life surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, September 22 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Anna Moshos of Springfield, Virginia. Michael is survived by his long-time companion of 36 years: Dennis Liphart; three sisters: Mary Catherine Moshos, Frances (Michael) Campbell, Stephanie (George) Puddy; seven nieces and nephews: Lindsay (Corbin) Carruthers, Jennifer (Matt) Deuterman, Michael (Suzie) Shank, Victoria (Michael) Weitekamp, Christopher Puddy, Nicole (Pete) Hornig, Dean Campbell; seven great-nieces and great-nephews: Tyler, Sophia and Bodhi Deuterman, Jackson and Parker Shank, Landrix and Lochxland Carruthers; and many loving cousins and family members. Michael’s family would like to especially thank Dennis’ devoted sister Donna Wolford, niece Tracey Merchant and their entire families for their loving support for Michael at this time and throughout the years.
Michael was a dedicated employee with a strong work ethic who brought his heart and personality with him each day to the workplace. His career with Giant food began in Maryland. Spurred on by his and Dennis’ love of the beach, they moved to Rehoboth where Michael helped open the first Giant store in the area in 1999. Mike worked in various capacities with Giant, retiring with over 20 years of service. A great joy in Mike’s latter years was the opportunity given to him by long-time friend Joe Maggio to work well past retirement as a “lifetime employee” of Joe Maggio Realty and Keller Williams Realty, his title of endearment being “Director of First Impressions.”
Michael had a gregarious personality and never met a stranger. When anyone met Michael, the first thing they learned about him was how proud he was of his Greek heritage. Michael was your typical Greek man, full of bluster and opinion yet devoted to family and to his faith. Over the last few years Mike’s dearest pride was his special relationship with his great-nieces and nephews and their daily “face-time” sessions, his delight being fondly called “Big Giant Uncle Michael”. His greatest source of comfort was having Dennis by his side faithfully through all the ups and downs of life until the very end.
