When he wasn't growing and marketing nature's beauty from his nursery business, he enjoyed fishing, boating and sailing with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends over the years during what spare time he had. He also served as President of Delaware Association of Nurserymen, was a member of the American Hemerocallis Society, a Delaware Council of Farm Organizations Delegate and member of the Delaware Agricultural Alumni Association.
