Michael S. Giancola's Obituary
Michael S. Giancola, age 77 of Harbeson, DE passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes, DE. He was born on August 2, 1946, in Chicago, IL, son of the late Michael D. and Edith (Nelson) Giancola.
Mr. Giancola was a graduate of Steinmetz High School, class of 1965. A proud veteran, he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, between 1965 and 1967, a period that shaped much of his character and resolve.
After his honorable discharge, his path and love of the open road led to a career as a truck driver, specializing in freight delivery, a career that took him all over the country and he logged hundreds of thousands of miles. He married Joni Keefer Giancola on May 7, 2011, in Las Vegas, NV and the two spent many beautiful years together creating countless memories. Mr. Giancola was a proud life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He took pleasure in the simple things of life, but what he treasured most was his family and friends. Mr. Giancola was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, He will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Giancola is survived by his wife, Joni Giancola of Harbeson, DE; his children: Michael (Shellie) Giancola of Poplar Grove, IL; Gina Howe (Russ Brown) of Poplar Grove, IL; Jennifer Menefee of Glen Burnie, MD; Aaron (Tanya) Menefee of Wellsburg, NY; Brianna McKinney (Matthew Johnson) of Philadelphia, PA; and Shaylah (Dylan) McKinney-Jones of Beech Island, SC; his grandchildren: Mikayla (Dallas) Haase, Logan Giancola, Joey and Jamey Howe, Nick, Samantha and Makenzie Brown, Reagan Menefee, Saige Martin, Jaylin Menefee, and Harlow Jones; his great grandchildren: Paisleigh and Hudson Arnold; and several cousins.
