I had the pleasure of knowing Mike, back in 1969-70 when he had his Yellow Chevelle. We would ride through town , over to the beach and back every night. He was such a great person, always had this smile, that never went away. He was a lover of Cars, and yes, Pretty Girls, and I am thankful that I was able to know him, for the short time that I did. He made this world a better place, for so many others. You will always be in my heart.

I was very saddened to learn last week that Mike' had answered his Final Roll Call, and extend my sincere belated condolences to his family. I had the privilege of working with "Corporal" Mike while I was the RBPD police chief from 1991-2001. Mike was a steady, dependable Police Officer who seldom rushed head long into a disturbance on the Boardwalk during the crazy summer tourist season. Instead, he would approach softly and non aggressively to find out what was going on and to calm people down. Although he aggressively enforced the DE Motor Vehicle Code, not once in those 10 years did any traffic violator file a complaint about Mike's professional attitude. Above any aspect of his police work Mike loved working with kids, and was passionate about his work at Rehoboth Elementary as the school's D.A.R.E. officer for many years. During Dec. 1991 and 1992, Mike was front and center in the old Convention Center handing out food and gifts to needy kids at the "Operation Santa Claus" events. May you rest in peace, Mike, and thanks for everything.

My favorite nephew always said, "Let me know if you need anything." I am his 86-year-old Aunt Gerri living in Pennsylvania. I was in my 15th year in 1949. My sister, Helen,
had another boy! What a boy! Sweet, handsome, great sense of humor, loving and
thoughtful to the end. I am elated that he will welcome me to my new home, whenever
I arrive there, a glorious reunion with my precious nephew!
So sorry to hear of Mike's passing as I graduated with Mike in 67 from Lewes. I played football with Mike and his brother Bobby. I kind of lost touch with Mike over the years but always like Mike and the Walls family and offer my condolences to them and his friends, Ray Quillen
