Melvin (Mel) John Kampmann, 85, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, July 12th, 2016. He suffered from Parkinson's Disease. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Karin (Grabowski) Kampmann; his son, Scot Kampmann; his son Erik Read Obituary
Such sadness to so belatedly learn of Mel's passing. A class act, a true gentleman with a delightfully warped sense of humor... maybe that's why we got along so well! It was a pleasure to have him as my boss at Channel 6 News in Philadelphia, and to visit with him in later years in D.C., and San Francisco during our respective travels. It was a pleasure to know Mel, a good man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was so accomplished and didn't talk much about it with us, PPP's Ad Hoc group. He was such an asset to our group, advising us wisely when needed. Thank you, Mel, for just "being". My sympathies to Karin and his family.
