Max Eugene Hoyt's Obituary
Max Eugene Hoyt, age 88 of Lewes, DE, passed away at home on Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was born on June 9, 1933, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, son of the late Eugene and Irene (Small) Hoyt.
Mr. Hoyt was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the US Army with assignments in Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, Vietnam, Alabama, Germany, Maryland, Washington, DC (Pentagon), and Walter Reed Hospital - formerly in Washington, DC. He retired as Colonel after 26 dedicated years.
Mr. Hoyt earned a master’s degree in Hospital Administration. He married the love of his life, Margaret Hoyt in 1953. Mr. Hoyt was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Hoyt is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Margaret Hoyt; his children: Cindy Edwards of Olney, MD, Linda Johannes (John) of Annapolis, MD, and Paul Hoyt (Melanie) of Frederick, MD; his 5 grandchildren; and his 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 1:00 PM, at Longneck United Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Rd, Millsboro, DE 19966. Interment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
