Maureen D. Sutton's Obituary
Maureen D. Sutton, age 78 of Lewes, DE, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, June 9, 2022. She was born on December 15, 1943, in Darby, PA, daughter of the late James and Mary (Larney) Dorsey.
Maureen built a career as a chef and dietary manager at various nursing homes in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware, retiring from Lewes Convalescent Center in 2008. She was an associate member of the American Legion Post 28, as well as a member of the Delaware Beach Surf Fishermen. Maureen was an avid gardener, and she enjoyed traveling, but only by car or boat! She loved coastal living and everything it had to offer, especially relaxing on the beach and casting a line fishing. A faithful member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Maureen was very active in the altar guild and thoroughly enjoyed decorating the church for all occasions. Above all, she cherished time spent with those she held most dear. Maureen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Loved by many, she will be deeply missed by all fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her parents, Maureen was preceded in death by her first husband of thirteen years, Willard “Wallsy” Walls. She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-three years, Arthur H. Sutton, III; daughters: Laura Price (Mark), Linda Sutton, Kathleen Pollard (Tom); son, Robert Sutton; her grandchildren, Craig Pack (Dawn), Stephanie Kruelle (Brian), and Courtney Price; great-grandchildren, Xander Pack, and twins Colton Kruelle and Aubrey Kruelle, all of whom she adored: and her sister, Pat Janson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
