Matthew James Ryan's Obituary
Matthew James Ryan (10/10/1944 - 8/5/2021)
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of a husband, brother, uncle, and friend.
Matt led a full and happy life, and we are so blessed to have been on that journey with him.
Born the son of Helen (Higgins, dec’d 2015) and James (Jimmy, dec’d 1986) Ryan on October 10, 1944, in the small, beautiful, coastal town of East Providence, RI. (And yes, that is where he obtained his wonderful “accent” that never left him.)
Matt was one of four “Ryan” children. James (Jimmy, dec’d 1999), Gina (dec’d 1999), and Susan (Sue) O’Sullivan of Lewes, DE. Matt leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Sue (Susan), as well as many others who loved him dearly.
After graduating from East Providence High School, Matt went on to graduate from then Bryant Collage (now University). Matt graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science, in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Matt’s education led him to a long and distinguished career with Sun Oil. He and his wife Sue, retired to Rehoboth Beach, DE, where Matt was able to enjoy his favorite things: reading, fishing, the beach, his canine sidekicks, the Eagles and a nice cold beer!
May Matt rest peacefully in the hands of the Lord and live on in our cherished memories.
Services will be announced later.
