Susan Burns Melrath
Maryanne welcomed me when I started teaching in Oxford in early 1968. Her guidance helped to make my transition to middle school teaching a success. She was so knowledgeable about our curriculum, teaching strategies and just what made a middle school student tick. She and I continued to bond when we each welcomed a son in 1974. I will always treasure our discussions of child rearing. She was a true friend even when our contact was limited to Christmas letters about " the grands". She is gone much too early.
