Mary Frances Wagner's Obituary
Mary Frances Wagner, age 92 of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware died Friday, February 26. 2010. Mary was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 22, 1918, the only daughter, and second of six children, of the late Fletcher A. Dicus, Sr. and Hazel F. Dicus. She was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
Mrs. Wagner retired from many years with the United States Government, finishing her career at Beneficial Insects Laboratory in Newark, Delaware.
Mary lived in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for the past 48 years with her husband, Ted, who predeceased her in 2005. Ted was a member of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years. Together they cared for numerous foster children during their 64 years of marriage, both in Maryland and Delaware. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department, the Rehoboth Beach Senior Center and the Ladies Altar Guild at All Saints Episcopal Church. Mary and Ted's home was always open to guests, and she was known for her gracious hospitality. Mary enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles, and she was a magnificent story teller. She loved being with her family and was fortunate to travel extensively throughout the world. She was a beautiful, intelligent, caring person who will be missed by everyone.
Survivors include a son, Ted Wagner, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Caroline County, Maryland and a daughter, Mary Jane Flynn and her husband Gerald of Wilmington, Delaware. She is also survived by five granddaughters: Pamela Taylor, Jennifer Flynn, Mary Carr, Anne Deo and Ruth Wagner; and five great grandchildren: Andrew and Brooke Czajkowski and Jonah, Wyatt and Seth Carr. Special mention is made to our wonderful family friend, Kathie Sunkett. She has two surviving brothers, Howard Dicus of Maryland and Bruner Dicus and his wife Barbara of Alabama, a sister-in-law, Nancy Dicus of Maryland and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, 2010, 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, Delaware. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be in Epworth Methodist Cemetery in Rehoboth Beach.
