Mary Ellen Massetti's Obituary
Mary Ellen Massetti, age 73, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2011 at, Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. DE. She was born in New York City, NY, on February 3, 1938, daughter of the late Elmer J. and Mary (Cerecko) Tunnell.
Mrs. Massetti was raised in New York graduating from the Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, NY. She worked briefly for the FBI, Chase Bank and Macy's before meeting the love of her life at Macy's. Once she married, she became a full time homemaker who shared her many talents by participating in community events, the Cub Scouts and her children's activities. She had a green thumb, loved antiquing, reading and running her home. Mrs. Massetti and her beloved moved to Rehoboth Beach in 2001 where they thoroughly enjoyed all that the beach community has to offer. Mrs. Massetti was a captivating story teller and had a great sense of humor. She was a devoted wife, Mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
Mrs. Massetti is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Anthony E. Massetti; two children: Anthony J. Massetti Jr. of Basking Ridge, NJ and Elicia Pierno of Oakton, VA; two grandchildren: Alyssa and Christina Pierno; and two brothers: Charles Tunnell and Joseph Tunnell both of Florida.
The family sends a special thank you to all the nurses in the ICU at Beebe Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care of their wife and Mother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 17, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be private at Epworth Methodist Cemetery. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Tunnell Cancer Center, c/o Beebe Medical Foundation, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
