Mary G. Marcus' Obituary
Mary G. Marcus , age 79, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 20, 2012 at her residence with her family at her side. She was born in Meriden, CT, on Monday, February 20, 1933, daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Shannon) Gaffney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Marcus, her daughter-in-law, Brenda Marcus and one sister, Elizabeth G. Osborne.
Originally from Edgewater, MD, Mrs. Marcus moved to Lewes 20 years ago, was an active member and past officer in the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge # 2540 of Lewes and a member of their bridge club. She was past president of the Homeowners Association of Angola Beach Estates. She traveled extensively with her family and loved playing bridge, knitting and crocheting.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.
Mrs. Marcus was survived by her husband of 60 years, Aubrey (Chic) W. Marcus of Lewes,DE, one son, John Marcus of Lewes,DE, one daughter, Theresa Manas and her husband Bruce of Harwood, MD, seven granddaughters, Serena, Kimberly, Nicole and Cara Manas, all of Harwood, MD, Kristy Nutt and her husband Stephen of Phoenix, AZ and Tasha Marcus of Salt Lake City, UT and Danielle Marcus of Parksville, MD, two grandsons, Shane Marcus of Jacksonville, NC and Justin Marcus of Parksville, MD and one great granddaughter, Dylan Manas of Harwood, MD, one brother-in-law, Jim Osborne of Severna Park, MD and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 4:00 PM. The Elks will have there service at the funeral home beginning at 3:50 pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
Additional viewing will be held on Friday, July 27,2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 West Central Avenue,Davidsonville, MD from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Inc., Edgewater MD.
