Mary Louise Mack, age 93 of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 21, 2018. She was born April 3, 1925 in Buckhead, Madison County, GA, to the late William Herschel and Bonnie Black Huff. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Chris Mack in 1988 and her siblings, William Hershel Huff Jr, Henry Terrell Huff, Roy Barnett Huff, Bonnie Alvin Huff, and Carolyn Bell Huff Gilmore.
Mrs. Mack attended Madison High School as well as North Georgia College. In addition to raising her family she worked at Rehoboth Elementary School as a library aide, retiring in 1983. She served her community well by volunteering for the Meals on Wheels Program and is the longest participant in the Lewes-Rehoboth area, having worked for 35 years and having delivered over 35,000 meals. She was also a recipient of the prestigious Jefferson Award for community service.
Until a few years ago she would walk the Rehoboth boardwalk every day. Up until she was 50 years old she played basketball for the local women’s team called the “Sand Pipers” where she was well known for her long “Field Goal Shots”. She loved the beach, dancing and most importantly listening to her boys play at their many events.
She is survived by two sons, Greg Mack (Gail) of Lewes, DE and Keith Mack (Jeannie) of Millsboro, DE; four grandchildren, Bryan, Jasmine, Matthew and Julia; two great grandchildren, Carter and Carson and a brother Frank Edwin Huff of Warner Robbins, GA.
Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 301 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 12:30 PM at the Church. Burial will follow the services at the Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
