Mary Elizabeth Kewley's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Kewley, age 93 of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware.
She was born Saturday, August 26, 1916 in Phoebus, Virginia , daughter of the late Edward Pickin and the late Matilda Handle Pickin. She and her late husband Thomas H. Kewley, Jr. who died in 1992, formerly had resided in Prospect Park, PA from 1935-1962 and Limestone Acres, DE from 1962-1985, before moving to Rehoboth Beach in 1985. She had been very involved until recently with the Georgetown Senior Center going on trips and playing cards. She had also participated in the Del Tech Senior Programs and continued her many relationships formed under the Parsell Funeral Homes Grief Support Group. She was especially fond of needlework, fishing and watching golf tournaments and the Phillies.
Many years ago she was employed by the Fisher Plumbing and Heating Contractor in Essington, PA.
Surviving are son, Robert H Kewley & wife Lona of Alto, NM, daughter, Barbara Diezel and husband Harry of Thorndale, PA;, grandsons, Vance Diezel of Schwenksville, PA,, LTC (P) Robert H. Kewley, Jr. at West Point, NY, Richard H. Kewley, of ClintonThownship, MI, and two granddaughters, Jeneane Blence of Downingtown, PA and Dorene Ryder of Vienna, VA. and 12 great grandchildren. She loved and was closely involved with her family throughout her whole life.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium located at 16961 Kings Highway Lewes, Delaware 19958. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Harbeson, DE. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mattlind Way, Milford, DE 19963.
