Mary Jane "MJ" Cook's Obituary
Mary Jane "MJ" Cook, age 86, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the Delaware Hospice Center, in Milford, DE. She was born on June 11, 1932 in McKeesport, PA, daughter of the late Christopher and Elegia (Daley) Moritz.
Mrs. Cook was known for her heart of gold and passion for helping people. She worked closely with the American Red Cross as a disaster specialist volunteer. She was a founding member of the Stephanie Roper Family Assistance Committee in Maryland where she worked as a victims rights advocate for many years. In her spare time, Mrs. Cook also volunteered with the Maryland State Police.
Mrs. Cook is survived by two daughters: Teresa Beller of Lewes, DE and Susan Kelly and her husband Tom also of Lewes; four grandchildren: Bryan Fields of Lewes, DE, Emily Fields of Baltimore, MD, Laura Kelly of Baltimore, MD, and Mark Kelly of Lewes, DE.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Cook's name to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
