Mary Elizabeth Hatfield "Betty"'s Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Hatfield “Betty”, age 85 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at her home. She was born on July 25, 1936, in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Lynnwood and Mary Baker.
Mrs. Hatfield enjoyed a lifelong career as a bookkeeper, both in the Prince George’s County, MD and Washington, DC areas. She was a faithful member of both Epiphany Episcopal Church and St. George’s Episcopal Church, where she was very involved in their many organizations. Mrs. Hatfield was a life member of the Prince George’s County, Morningside Volunteer Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary, as well. She liked being a part of the neighborhood ladies’ groups, particularly when crafting was involved. Mrs. Hatfield was a talented cook and baker, as evidenced by all fortunate enough to have had a seat at her table. The matriarch of her family, she kept a beautiful home and made the role of raising her family a priority. Mrs. Hatfield had many hobbies and interests, but none so much as caring for those she loved. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hatfield was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Hatfield, in November. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Talento (Rick) and Michael Hatfield (Lisa); and her adored grandchildren, the apples of her eye: Ryan Talento, Rachael Talento, Zachary Talento, and Ethan Hatfield.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Epiphany Church Cemetery, 3111 Ritchie Road, District Heights, MD.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required by all persons attending, or participating in any aspect of the services
