Mary Jo Griffiths' Obituary
Mary Jo Griffiths passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at Beebe Medical Center after a courageous battle with blood cancer.
Mary Jo graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and completed her Master's Degree at Towson University. Mary Jo taught in the Baltimore Country Public Schools for 23 years. Following retirement in 2000 she and her husband Robert, moved to Summit County, Colorado to pursue their lifelong passion for snow skiing. During the off season, the couple traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the USA.
In passing, Mary Jo wishes good health and joy to family and friends who supported her during her three year ordeal. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Tunnell Cancer Center who provided loving and compassionate care.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years Robert W. Griffiths; son Zeyn and his wife Tammy Griffiths of Stuttgart, Germany; sister Gail and her husband Richard Haddock of Fenwick Island, DE; and brother Jerry and his wife Emily Wanzie of Numidia, PA.
A Celebration of Mary Jo's Life will be held at Saturday October 10th, 3:00 PM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at the intersection of Rt. 42 (Numidia Drive) and Ringtown Mountain Road, Numidia, PA. A Graveside Service will follow in the churchyard as well as a reception in the church hall. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
