Mary Nero Galbraith's Obituary
Mary (Nero) Galbraith, age 93, of Lewes, DE, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes, DE. She was born December 16, 1914 in Laurel, DE to the late Santo and Teodora (Macarone) Nero.
Mrs. Galbraith was an elementary school teacher for 2 years in Milford, DE and for 18 years in Seaford, DE. She also worked at DuPont in Seaford in the early 40's. She was a fabulous seamstress and worked in garment factories in Laurel, Blades, and Delmar. She volunteered many hours of her time in Lewes, DE. She was a member of St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Lewes Senior Center, Sea Side Entertainers, Cape Henlopen Senior Center, D.A.V., St. Edmond's Church Choir, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford, DE where she taught Catechism and sang in the choir.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary "Birdie" Galbraith and Nicola Ann Roberson and her husband William T. Roberson, all of Lewes, DE; one son, Elmer G. Galbraith and his wife Susan of Johnstown, Ohio; two grandchildren, Fred Galbraith and his wife Marci of New Albany, OH and Keri Ann Campbell and her husband James of Lewis Center, OH; and four great grandchildren:James Gregory Campbell and Emily Marie Campbell of Lewis Center, OH and Halle Elizabeth Galbraith and Payton Clay Galbraith of New Albany, OH; one sister, Elizabeth West of Lewes, DE; and three brothers: Antonio Nero of Laurel, DE, Nicholas Nero of Seaford, DE, and Joe Nero of Orlando, FL.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Galbraith was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Charles Galbraith, in 1989; four brothers: Francis S. Nero, John Nero, Al Nero, and Bartholomew Nero; and sister, Anna Nero.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church at 11:00 AM Monday, December 1, 2008; Father Mark Connelly officiating. The family will receive friends at St. Jude's one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park in Milton, DE.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Enterprises, Inc., Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society, P.O. Box 646, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
