Mary C. Clark's Obituary
Mary C. (Greenwell) Clark, age 86 of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully on May 4, 2010. She was born June 6, 1923, daughter of the late John J. and Grace E. (Higgs) Greenwell.
Mrs. Clark spent her childhood in Marganza, MD. After graduation from high school she worked at the Patuxent Naval Base where she met the love of her life, Edward, whom she married in 1945. She was also employed by Tiny Tots Nursery, Laurel, MD for 17 years, but first and foremost she enjoyed taking care of her family. She moved to Lewes, DE in 1993 where she was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Lewes, DE and enjoyed pursuing her many hobbies of gardening, cooking, and shopping. Mrs. Clark was known for her love of dance, her open arms and big smile; she was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed by all who loved her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edward Eugene Clark, Sr. and 5 siblings; she is survived by her 3 sisters: Alberta Montgomery, Cryella Clarke, and Deloris Cecil; a son Gene Clark and his wife Martha of Gambrills, MD; a daughter Joan Davis and her husband Chip of Lewes, DE; 4 grandchildren, Gordon Davis and wife Carri of Lewes, Suzy Close and husband Milton of Gambrills, Cindy Arnold and husband Frank of Manchester, MD and Angie Davis Whitten and husband Bryan of Frederick, MD; 5 great-grandchildren, Autumn Davis of Lewes, DE, Brandon and Ashley Close of Gambrills, MD, Jake Arnold of Manchester, MD, and Jamie Whitten of Frederick, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 6, 2010, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, DE Rt. 1 at Five Points, Lewes, DE where friends may call beginning at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
