Mary Catherine Billups' Obituary
Mary Catherine Billups, age 77, of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 1, 2018. She was born on May 23, 1940 in Reno, NV, daughter of the late Mark Benedicto and April Clark.
Ms. Billups' career was in Special Education as a Special Education Teacher at Lodi Unified School in Lodi, CA and as an Elementary School Teacher in Stockton Unified Schools in Stockton, CA. After retirement, she relocated to Lewes, DE to be near her granddaughter whom she adored.
Ms. Billups volunteered at Shields Elementary School and Head Start in Lewes. She was a member of Eagles Nest Church in Milton, DE. In her spare time, Ms. Billups loved to travel; China, Hawaii, Alaska and Europe were among her favorite destinations. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and playing mahjong. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.
Ms. Billups is survived by her children: Carla M. Billups of Waynesville, NC and Steven Billups and his wife, Katharina of Lewes, DE; her granddaughter, Martha Billups of Lewes, DE; and her siblings, Birdie Stepken and Christopher Bentonio, both of Stockton, CA.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Eagles Nest Fellowship Church in the Chapel, 26633 Zion Church Rd, Milton, DE 19968 where friends may visit beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private.
