I guess a recurring memory is her love of her grandchildren. She always was talking about them
When I first moved to Lewes and started going to meetings in 2021 I had met Mary at what is now my home group. It was brief but she welcomed me with open arms and a beautiful smile. I ran into her at ACME and she treated me like an old friend striking up a conversation and remembering who I was. I believe we became friends at that moment and I was always glad to see her at meetings and enjoyed her company and the conversations we had. She was always happy and full of life. I try to live my life the same way.

As I always say “lucky to be Irish, blessed to be a Cooney” and Mary was a big part of that blessing.
Marrying into the family in 2023, Mary was one of the most welcoming members of the family. She has the best smile and of course stored every family memory and shared them with gusto, always making each story vivid and captivating.
One of the best parts about gaining Mary as a family member was seeing true love between her and Jerry. I can only pray that my marriage has the same devotion, care and friendship they modeled for us.
We will miss you Mary and I’ll do my best to share every story you told me with any Cooney who will listen.
Our cousin Mary was the fun and lively heart of the Cooney clan. She taught me how to dance my first jig, peeled more potatoes at Thanksgiving & Christmas than any American should have to, always looked half her age, and had the patient heart of a saint.
Mary, I’ll miss you when any holiday comes around (every day, really)… but on St Patrick’s Day, when we sing “The Black Velvet band,” please take a moment out of your day in heaven to sing it with us!🎶☘️❤️
Mary and I shared so many fun adventures—memories I’ll carry with me forever. She was there through the difficult moments too. Her friendship was such a blessing in my life. Mary was thoughtful, kind, and always there with a warm heart. Rest in eternal peace my dear friend. You will always live in my heart.
Mary My dear Friend, sister you will be always missed and part of my ❤️
