Marty and I both started lifeguarding together at Robert Moses Field 4 in 1967, it was our first yuesr on the ocean. Marty was fun to be with snd s great bodysurfer! I last saw him in 1969.,He stayed at Robert Moses and I moved on to Jones Beach. I pass this information on to the lifeguard Corps.
I’m so sorry to hear of Marty’s passing. I used to babysit his two youngest kids years ago. Marty had a contagious smile & an amazing sense of humor.
I just found out today of Martys passing. I would come every friday and run errands and help him around the house, but the one thing i will remember most is his love of surfing he would tell me stories of surfing in Hawsii nd other destintions. He would also talk about his kids how proud he was of how successful they became. Rest high Marty you are free no more pain no more sorrow just peace
We use to have a lot of laughs together. Great memories of Black River, New York.

He is also survived by his first child, Martin John Ritz Jr. who inherited his father’s blue eyes and made me an Aunt. My lovely sister was his first wife.
I’m glad he is no longer in pain.
