Martin Louis Gurski's Obituary
Martin Louis Gurski, age 72 of Millsboro, DE, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes, DE. He was born on June 12, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Raymond and Johanna Gurski.
Mr. Gurski was a proud US Navy Veteran, having honorably served during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. His patriotism continued throughout his life as a member of AmVets Post 22 in Millsboro and previously as a member of AmVets Post 48 in New York. Mr. Gurski was a member of the Elks Lodge in NY and most recently in Lewes. He loved doing crossword puzzles and listening to classical music. Above all, Mr. Gurski was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Gurski is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathleen "Kathy" (Fogarty) Gurski; his daughters: Elizabeth Marx (Thomas) of Manorville, NY and Eileen Temprosa (AJ) of Alexandria, VA; his grandchildren: Andrew, Allison, and Olivia; his brothers: John Marion Winicki (Carol) of Lebanon, PA and Eugene Winicki; and his sisters: Kathryn Gurski and Patricia Gurski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Winicki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 11:00 AM at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE, with interment to follow at 1:00 PM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Friends may call the night prior, Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Gurski's memory to the Long Neck Cheer Center, 26089 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
