Mark Anthony Ennis' Obituary
Mark Anthony Ennis, 64, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2024, while visiting family in Lewes, Delaware. Mark, the youngest of eight children, was born on October 22, 1959, in New Jersey. He grew up in a lively household filled with laughter, family and good food. As a young adult, Mark served in the US Navy and traveled around the world. Upon his return, he started a family and pursued his career in Maryland. Later in life, he moved to Florida where he made many friends, met his wife Laura, and cherished time with his daughter Laila and son-in-law Andy.
Mark's curiosity and strong work ethic paved the way for his success. A natural leader, with an easy-going demeanor and great sense of humor, he made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed family gatherings, watching football, tending his garden, and embarking on outdoor adventures with his beloved dog, Calvin.
Mark is survived by his daughters Maureen (Tom Prosser) of Bel Air, MD, Laila (Andy Kirkpatrick) of Brooksville, FL; his wife Laura Gentle of Ontario, Canada; brother Michael of Lewes, DE; and sister Debbie of Walworth, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Arlene, and siblings Arlene, Patricia, Joseph, Gail, and Elizabeth.
A veteran's burial will be held in Florida, with a celebration of life scheduled for a later date, to which family and friends will be invited.
Mark had a deep passion for supporting both veterans and dogs. He and Calvin participated in a service dog training program for veterans provided by K9 Partners for Patriots.
