Marjorie E. Kunkle's Obituary
Marjorie "Marge" (Bressler) Kunkle, age 78 of Rehoboth Beach, DE and formerly of Baldwin Long Island and Bethlehem PA, followed the path God laid for her and took his hand when he called, on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Marge graduated from Bethlehem High in 1962 and went on to graduate from Allentown School of Cosmetology. She later married her high school sweetheart James “Jim” Kunkle in 1963, and they welcomed their only child, a daughter Gwen, in 1968. Marge and Jim lived and traveled throughout Europe and later enjoyed their weekend destination trips together.
She was an avid sailor and enjoyed time spent on the great South Bay of Long Island. Marge was employed by ADT security for many years until she retired with Jim in 2003, the year her granddaughter was born, and moved to Rehoboth Beach Delaware. When Marge moved to Rehoboth Beach she became a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church Of Our Savior, where she served in many capacities, including financial secretary, member of the altar guild, Sunday school superintendent, and an elder of the church.
Above all, the time spent with her beloved family, many friends, and “the girls” from her smocking, needlepoint, and embroidery groups was what she cherished most. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her brother, Leon “Sonny” Bressler. She is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Jim Kunkle; her daughter, Gwen Kunkle - Holtgrewe; her granddaughter, Amanda Holtgrewe, with whom she cherished greatly and had a very special bond; and her sister Jean Sammons Silberg (Scott).
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro, DE.
