Marjorie M. Harman's Obituary
Marjorie Mildred Harman, age 91 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Harbor Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes. She was born on May 16, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA, wife of the late W. H. Grant Morgan, III, and daughter of the late Emory S. Harman and Sarah Mildred Kreiner Harman.
Marjorie held various positions during her working life. She was a secretary, a home health aide, a real estate agent, and most importantly, a loving mother who raised her five children in Lansdowne, PA. Marjorie also was an avid volunteer. Some of her volunteer work included helping at her local Episcopal Church, Independence Dogs in Wilmington, DE and delivering Meals on Wheels while living in Lansdowne, PA.
Marjorie’s interests and hobbies were many and varied. She enjoyed identifying different species of trees while walking in Delaware and Pennsylvania parks. She was a member of Longwood Gardens and especially loved walking the grounds and smelling all the flowers. Marjorie loved soaking up the sun in various parks and beaches. She loved painting, quilting, gardening, boating, antique shopping, and going to the movies. She loved to travel with Robyn and Deb. She especially enjoyed exploring England, Wales, Nova Scotia and seeing the infamous ‘tidal bores’, the Grand Canyon, Lake Tahoe, Sedona, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and rafting trip at Glen Canyon Dam and dunking in the subzero Colorado River on Petroglyphs Beach.
Marjorie was an avid reader. She enjoyed reading about Carl Jung, and the Jungian Theory. She also loved the Art work of Henri Matisse and Andrew Wyeth and going to the Philadelphia Art Museum with her daughter, Robyn. She loved her cats pet Peeve and Haiku. She was a very clever, beautiful lady with a fabulous sense of humor. Marjorie had a wonderful decorative flair in the homes that she lived, as well as her personal attire. Above all, Marjorie cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her son, William HG Morgan IV; her brother, James Harman; and her sister-in-law, Susan Harman. She is survived by her children: Pamela R. Beck (William), Cynthia A. Patouhas (George), Robyn E. Morgan (Deborah) and Gayle Gina Collins (Frank); her grandchildren: Michelle Gallimore, (Tracy), Jason Beck, (Dana), Joshua Beck, (Kelly), John DiBuonaventura, (Racheal), Gena Patouhas, and Frank Collins; and her great-grandchildren: Jacob, Grant, Emerson, Crisenda, Brenden, Stephen, Lilah, Harrison, and Rowan, as well as her sister-in-law Ruthann Turley and Ralph Turley.
Services will be held in the Spring of 2021.
