Marietta B. "Wilda" Root's Obituary
Marietta “Wilda” B. Root, age 91, of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 17, 1923 in Mount Storm, WV, daughter of the late Gerald Vausie and Uthea (Idleman) Bosley.
Mrs. Root started her career working at the Pitot Blouse Sewing Factory in Middle River, MD before continuing to the Bendix Factory in Towson, MD. Following her marriage, she and her loving husband Julius would operate a motel and gas station for many years in Weston, WV. Mrs. Root would spend the last 17 years of her working career with Westinghouse in Linthicum, MD where she did silk-screening and was a Hi-Low Driver. In addition to her work, Mrs. Root kept active in several organizations including, Oak Grove Church in Bel Air, MD, The Aberdeen Golden Age Club, The VFW in Aberdeen, MD where she was a lifetime member, The Loyal Order of Moose in Florida, numerous Cheer Centers across Delaware, and most recently Harbor Lights and New Covenant Presbyterian Church, both of Lewes, DE.
In her free time, Mrs. Root enjoyed playing bingo, making jewelry, puzzling, crocheting, sewing and most of all music. She was a very talented self-taught musician who played the organ, piano, harmonica, guitar and her favorite, accordion. Mrs. Root was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend who’s harmonious music will be cherished forever.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Root was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of more than 53 years, Julius, her sister, Lula Bosley, her brother, Gerald Bosley, and her grandson, Michael Ruehling. She is survived by her one son, Robert Root and his wife Sharon of Millsboro, DE; her one daughter Julianna Ruehling and her husband Barry of Bel Air, MD; her three grandchildren: Christina Boyd and her husband Mike, Lori Root, and Steven Ruehling and his wife Lisa; her two great grandchildren, Mallory and Jenna Boyd; her two brothers: Donald Bosley and his wife Linda of Mount Storm, WV, and Ronnie Bosley and his wife Wanda of Arthur, WV; her sister, Bonnie Kisemore and her husband Asa of Arthur, WV; and her two nieces, Charlene Beverage and her husband David and Donna Disney.
Memorial Services will be held on January 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3072 Savannah East Drive, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
