Marian Hocker Marshall's Obituary
Marian Catherine Hocker Marshall, age 92, of Lewes, DE passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in her home. She was born on June 29, 1922 in Union City, NJ, daughter of the late Elwood W. and Frances (Malinerick) Hocker.
Mrs. Marshall graduated from Lewes High School in 1944 and began her career as a Secretary at Ft. Miles, DE. She married T. Rowland Marshall on July 25, 1945. Marian participated in many organizations including the Junior League of Wilmington, Junior Board of the Memorial Hospital, the Lewes Yacht Club and DAR. She was a long time member of St. Peters Episcopal Church. Mrs. Marshall enjoyed playing bridge, reading mystery books, shelling in Sanibel, FL and had a special interest in pelicans.
Mrs. Marshall is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, T. Rowland Marshall of Lewes, DE; two daughters: Constance Marshall Miller and her husband John F. of Lewes, DE and Linda M. Fischer and her husband Robert A. Jr. of Lewes, DE; a son, Thomas R. Marshall, IV of Milton, DE and his companion Diana Bruni who led the family to hospice care and was also a special comfort to Marian; a brother, Howard J. Hocker of Lewes, DE; ten grandchildren: Katy and her husband Ben, Mandy, Artie, John David and his wife Carly, Hannah and her husband Jordan, Abigail, Andy, Taylor and her husband Drew, Meredith, TR V and his wife Bridget; and six great-grandchildren: Hayden, Zane, Reese, Luca, Avary and Juniper.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 211 Mulberry Street, Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
