Margaret J. Walls' Obituary
Margaret J. Walls, 93, of Lewes, Delaware passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. She was born November 18, 1916 on Lewes Beach, daughter of the late Coast Guardsman John R. Warren, Jr. and the late Hettie Mae (Mitchell) Warren.
Mrs. Walls lived most of her life on Lewes Beach at the present site of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry where her father was serving at the Lewes Coast Guard Station. Her mother began a family business shortly after Margaret’s birth which grew to include Warren's Boats, Cottage and Trailer Lot rentals. Mrs. Walls was a 1936 graduate of Lewes High School. Margaret and her late husband Clarence H. Walls, Sr. raised their family at the same location while maintaining the family business and also Walls' Repair Shop until the property was sold in 2004. Mrs. Walls then spent the remainder of her years on the family farm outside of Lewes.
Margaret was adventurous, enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling with her husband, auctions, collecting antiques, and attending horse shows. She was a member of Groome United Methodist Church, Lewes.
Surviving are two sons: Bud Walls and Warren M. Walls, both of Lewes, DE; a daughter, Virginia C. Lewis of California; 6 grandchildren: Catherine Walraven, Cindy Plummer, Christine Thomas, Jeffrey Lewis, Jonathan Walls and Andrew Lewis; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Orpha Warren and great-grandson Jonathan Warren Walraven.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, August 16, 2010 from 6:00 -8:00 PM. Burial will be in Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes, DE.
