Margaret V. Tappan's Obituary
Margaret (Peggy) V. Tappan, age 82 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away at home on Monday, October 3, 2022. She was born on April 19, 1940, in Butler, PA, daughter of the late Carl L. and Helen (Thompson) Ritchie.
Peggy was a graduate of Rehoboth Beach High School, Class of 1958. She continued her studies at Goldey Beacom College, obtaining an associate degree. Peggy built a lifelong career in real estate as an agent for ReMax and later Lingo, retiring after more than 20 years. Before pursuing a career in real estate, she worked for Cape Henlopen School district in administration for many dedicated years.
Peggy had many and varied interests and hobbies. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and was a member of the local garden club. Peggy loved all animals and could often be found feeding the birds and squirrels. She was an avid golfer, reader, and loved Cape Henlopen sports, especially when her grandkids were playing; she was their # 1 fan. Above all, Peggy loved spending time with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Loved by many, she will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, William Ritchie. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, William Tappan lll; her children: Mike Tappan (Terry) of Milton, DE and David Tappan (Terri) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her grandchildren: Kellie Geuting (Taylor) of Cocoa, FL, Sean Tappan (Rebecca) of Milton, DE, Mark Tappan (Madelyn) of Lincoln, DE, Sarah Tappan of St. Petersburg, FL, Eric Tappan (Kristen) of Bear, DE, Sandra Mastrian (Patrick) of Lewes, DE, and Brian Tappan of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her great grandchildren: Elijah Tappan of Milton, DE, Nora Tappan of Milton, DE, Brayden Mastrian of Lewes, DE, Ethan Mastrian of Lewes, DE, and Charlotte Tappan of Bear, DE; and her sister, Chervyl Maloney of Rehoboth Beach, DE.
