Margaret Ann Perovich's Obituary
With profound love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Margaret “Peggy” Ann Perovich, who passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 11, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Peggy was a beacon of warmth, dedication, and selflessness.
Peggy was the daughter of Elmer and Anna Mary Johnson. She was the beloved wife of John Perovich, her partner in life for 50 cherished years. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. She was a devoted mother to Teresa Paulsen, her husband Mark Sammons, and his daughter Katelynn Klingensmith, and Johnny Perovich, who were her greatest pride. Later in life, Peggy embraced her most treasured role as “Nana” to her granddaughter, Rosalee Paulsen, whose joy and laughter became the center of her world.
Peggy lived a life of service to her family and community. She volunteered tirelessly in her children’s school parent associations and extracurricular activities, served as a dedicated Girl Scout Troop Leader, and brought her energy and creativity to her roles as Bible School Director and member of the church choir. She was a nurturing presence in every community she touched, always eager to give of her time and talents, including providing incredible home cooked meals to family and friends at a moment’s notice.
Peggy’s life was enriched by her passions. She found solace in books, adventure in travel, and peace at Lewes Beach and Cape Henlopen State Park. She loved thrifting and finding a good deal. She was never afraid to tell someone how much she paid for her outfit. She delighted in sharing time with her granddaughter, especially watching cooking and paranormal reality television shows. She also enjoyed home improvement programs, Project Runway marathons, and afternoons by the pool with friends. Above all, Peggy treasured the moments spent creating memories with her family.
Peggy was sister to Joan Bennett (Doug Bennett) and Diane Sullivan (Francis Sullivan), sister-in-law to George and Roxanne Perovich, as well as aunt to Gina Akers, Mia Bersani, her goddaughter Erin O’Neill, Ashley Horne, Kathryn Sullivan, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her life was a tapestry woven with love, kindness, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone who knew her. Peggy’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the enduring love of her family.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will take place in December. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her name to Tunnell Cancer Center through Beebe Medical Foundation, a reflection of her generous heart (https://www.beebehealthcare.org/donate).
Rest peacefully, Peggy. Your love, warmth, and spirit will remain with us always.
