Margaret M. O'Donnell's Obituary
Margaret M. O’Donnell (Dolly, Ma, Gram, and Great-Granny), 91, relinquished her soul to the Lord on October 5, 2016. She died quietly and peacefully in her home in Millsboro, Delaware in the loving care of her children.
Margaret was born in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1925. The eldest of four daughters born to John and Sue Donlin (O’Shea). She graduated from West Catholic Girls’ High School in 1943 and went on to pursue a career in nursing, graduating from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in 1946.
Margaret married Joseph F. O’Donnell in 1953 and had three children. Finding herself a single parent in 1958, she and her children found a loving home with her parents. At this critical juncture in her life, Margaret continued the pursuit of her nursing career as a registered nurse: a career that spanned 51 years as a operating room nurse, dialysis nurse, Red Cross nurse and a pioneer in intravenous therapy.
Margaret was an inimitable woman of fervent faith and boundless love who was devoted to her family and dedicated to her profession. She embodied a relentless, selfless spirit of abiding love who inspired and enriched every life she touched.
She will be remembered for her hearty laugh, her engaging and intellectual persona, her steadfast and loving devotion to family, and her purity and virtue that defines her as a paragon of essential womanhood.
