Margaret F. Moore's Obituary
Margaret F. Moore, age 94, a lifelong resident of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at her residence. She was born on June 28, 1919 in Lewes, DE, daughter of the late Joseph R. and Mary J. (Phillips) Moore. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Lester S. Moore, Clifford A. Moore, Howard Moore and James Moore; three sisters: Mildred Phillips, Helen M. Joseph and Ida Moore; two nephews: James Moore, Sr. and Robert Moore and a niece: Irene Sobara.
Ms. Moore enjoyed a lifelong career with the DuPont Company in Seaford, DE in their lab department. She was part owner and operator of the Phil-Moor Cottages located in Rehoboth Beach, DE where she thoroughly enjoyed meeting and greeting vacationers. Ms. Moore was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Pocahontas of Redman for many years. She was also a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway and loved being with her church “family.” Ms. Moore was well known for her exquisite hosting of parties, particularly her annual Christmas parties which she hosted for 60+ years. Whenever time permitted Ms. Moore could be found at the center of a great game of Canasta.
Ms. Moore is survived by a nephew: Ronald A. Moore of Rehoboth Beach, DE; 4 nieces: Ruth Herring and husband Robert of Locust Grove, VA; Betty Kennedy and husband Everett, Sr. of Harrington, DE; Rosalie Stein and husband Barry of FL and Paulette Vavala of Orlando, FL; her feline companion “Bear” and numerous great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE beginning with Eastern Star services and ending with Christian funeral services. Friends may visit one hour prior to services. Interment will follow services at Bethel Methodist Cemetery in Lewes, DE.
