Margaret Mary Marley's Obituary
Margaret “Margie" Marley, age 82, of Bethany Beach DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Margie was born on July 21, 1942, in Chester, PA and was the oldest child of the late Joseph and Margaret (Honan) Whittle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Whittle. She is survived by her spouse of 59 years, Paul, daughter Michele Marsilii (Jim) of Bear, DE, son Paul Marley (Chris) of Smyrna, DE, grandson Matthew Marsilii, granddaughter Caitlin Marsilii, sister Kathy Leszczynski (Ted) of Norristown, PA, several nieces and nephews and beloved cousins and extended family.
Margie is a 1960 graduate of Chester High School and she has many fond memories of her childhood in Chester. As a teen and young adult, she attended countless dances at the Dover Air Force Base and local high schools including St. Alice School in Upper Darby, PA where she met her husband Paul.
She raised two children and held administrative positions with Westinghouse, Levitz Furniture, Electric Hose & Rubber among others. In 1999, after 20 years, she retired from Pencader DuPont as an administrative assistant for the Space Structures Team. She relocated to Bethany Beach where she continued to enjoy a vibrant life traveling and participating in her husband’s woodworking business, which took them to art shows all over the mid-Atlantic region.
Margie loved fashion and lit up a room with her smile. She adored her children and grandchildren and spent countless summer days with them in Bethany Beach. She was a fixture at the annual Bethany Beach 4th of July parade and fireworks for many years. Margie loved to travel and, together with her husband Paul, made wonderful friends and memories on over forty cruises. She enjoyed spending time with friends in Atlantic City and made regular trips there. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM till the time of Mass with a reception to follow the Mass. Burial will be private. The family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace.
