Margaret R. "Marge" Henriksen, age 93, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Renaissance Healthcare in Millsboro, DE. She was born January 25, 1915 in Oak Park, IL, daughter of the late Ernest and Grace Marion (Peterson) Stoneman.
Mrs. Henriksen and her late husband of 67 years met and married in Chicago, IL. After high school, Marge attended business school and then worked as head cashier for Montgomery Wards until she started her family. The Henriksen's raised their children in Westfield, NJ. Marge was devoted to her family. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and was active in her church. Marge loved music and played the piano. While living both in Chicago and New Jersey she was a soloist in her church choirs. She was also treasurer of her church women's circle. In 1989 the Henriksen's relocated to Lewes and enjoyed their retirement years at the beach where they were members of the Lewes Yacht Club, the Lewes Historical Society, and Bethel United Methodist Church.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband William Robert Henriksen, Jr. (2004) and by her son William Robert Henriksen III (1983). She is survived by her son The Honorable John E. Henriksen and his wife Virginia of Lewes; her daughter Margaret H. Maull and her husband H. Edward Maull, Jr. of Lewes; and four grandchildren, Karen E. Maull, Carolyn T. Maull, Christina H. Maull and John C. Henriksen.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lewes Historical Society Endowment Fund, 110 Shipcarpenter Street, Lewes, DE 19958, to the Lewes Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 225, Lewes, DE 19958, or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
