Marco Antonio Flores Velasquez's Obituary
Marco Antonio Flores Velasquez, age 26, of Georgetown, DE, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Christiana Health Center in Newark, DE. Born on July 3, 1996, in Seaford, DE, he was the son of Marco Antonio Flores and Mercedes Maridalia Velasquez Carbajal.
After high school, Marco answered the call to serve his country and he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Rifleman, serving four years active duty and another four years in the Marine Corps Reserves. After his honorable discharge, his career path led him to a job with Delmarva Insulation where he was a supervisor.
Marco had many interests, and his love of life was contagious. His absolute favorite thing to do was playing in the playpen with his beloved daughter, Daniela, who was the pride and joy of his life. Marco also loved watching soccer, and was a huge fan of the Euro leagues, but Liverpool was his favorite team of all, and he was a huge fan of Virgil Van Duik. He was passionate about sports cars, and got a thrill driving, racing, and drifting. Marco would tune in to YouTube daily to watch Scotty Kilmer or Dr. Disrespect to glean as much knowledge as he could about cars and games. He would get so excited playing Call of Duty and FIFA on PS4, where he would often “tag-team” with his brother, Luis, his cousin, Marlon and his friend, Jacob. Marco took great pleasure in simply being outdoors hiking, grilling, and playing with his dog, Nina. He enjoyed listening to Mexican music and Reggaeton. Above all, the time spent with those he held dear was what he cherished most. Marco was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be forever missed by his family and friends.
Marco is survived by his beloved wife of six years, Xochilt Maria Flores; his daughter, Daniela Flores of Georgetown; his parents, Marco Antonio Flores and Mercedes Maridalia Velasquez; his eight siblings, Cynthia Flores, Selena Flores, Luis Flores, and Jackie Santa Maria, all of North Carolina, and Yoana Flores, Mia Flores, Anthony Flores, and Anai Flores, all of Delaware, and numerous aunts. uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, DE where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, 25153 DuPont Boulevard, Georgetown, DE.
