Mae M. Brown's Obituary
Mae Kent Morris Brown, age 74 of Milton, DE, passed on gently, surrounded by loved ones, on July 9, 2022, at her home. She was born on February 6, 1948, in El Paso, TX, third child of the late Sgt. Major Frank J. and Ruth (Walls) Morris.
Mae’s father was enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in many different places, including South Carolina, Massachusetts, Texas, and Delaware. During this time, four more siblings were born. The family moved to Kaiserslaustern, Germany, where Mae met her husband, Philip R. Brown. The couple settled in Salt Lake City, UT and were blessed with their son, Michael. After many years, the Browns moved to Delaware to be closer to family. They resided on land that had been farmed for over a century by Mae’s ancestors.
Mae worked in Rehoboth Beach at the movie theater and bowling alley, before dedicating 23 years to Beebe Hospital in Lewes, from which she retired as a dietary supervisor. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to dance, enjoyed travel, shopping, and bingo. Above all, Mae cherished time spent with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her sisters: Frances Marvin and Margaret Mizzi; and her brother, Frank A. Morris. She is survived by her soulmate and beloved husband of 54 years, Philip R. Brown; her son, Michael Brown (Valerie); her grandsons: Matthew Messina and Alexander Brown; her brother, Joseph Morris (Lauryne) of Lewes, DE; her sisters: Tina Morris of Milton, DE and Charlotte Perry (Denver) of Fairbanks, AK; her brothers-in-law: Owen Marvin of El Paso, TX and Edward Mizzi of Clawson, MI; her sister-in-law, Cathy Morris of St. Paul, MN; and her many nieces and nephews and their families.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be privately at a later date.
