Madeline M. Gardner's Obituary
Born on May 21, 1943, in Harrison, New Jersey, Madeline spent most of her life in Bergen County before retiring to Lewes, Delaware, where she made her home for the past 21 years. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Theresa Gardner and was preceded in death by her beloved, Joseph R. Gordon. Madeline lost a short battle with cancer leaving an unexpected void on July 14th, 2026.
Madeline lived with grace, style, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She was a self-proclaimed foodie, enjoyed fine dining and discovering new restaurants, decorating her home, traveling, reading, and all things beauty. She had an exceptional eye for fashion and was rarely seen without her signature red lipstick and a crisp white button up blouse. She took great pride in her immaculate home loved entertaining for the holidays and was an excellent home cook. She could effortlessly strike up conversation with everyone she encountered and remained young at heart throughout her life.
Above all, Madeline's greatest joy was her family. She was a hardworking, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who cherished every moment spent with those she loved. Her kindness, warmth, and unforgettable beauty will be remembered by all.
She is survived by her four children, Theresa Sciortino (David) Alfred Santumo (Danielle) Paul A. Santumo (Nicole) and Jennifer Mangione (Fred); and her grandsons, Nicholas Perugino III, Thomas Santumo, Mason M. Mangione, and Declan Santumo; her granddaughters, Madeline M. Mangione and Madison Ksebe and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Madeline will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
