Lurene F. Kowalski's Obituary
Lurene “Rene” F. Kowalski, age 89, of Harbeson, DE passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Cadia Delaware Rehab, in Middletown, DE. She was born Thursday, March 24, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late, Leon and Helen (VanSant) Blakeman.
Mrs. Kowalski worked for Sears Roebuck for several years before becoming a unit secretary at Beebe Healthcare for 20 years, from which she retired. She then worked at Geoffrey Bean in the Rehoboth Beach outlets for over ten years.
Mrs. Kowalski was an active volunteer for Beebe Healthcare and was a member of The Eastern Star Unity Chapter 16. In her free time, she enjoyed word searches, traveling, and going to the Cheer Center in Georgetown. Mrs. Kowalski was a giving person who always loved helping others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kowalski was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Anthony J. "Andy" Kowalski in 2009, her daughter, Lurene "Rene" White in 2010 and her sister, Virginia "Ginny" D'Andrea in 2009. She is survived by her daughters: Diane V. White and her husband, Franklin, of Newark, DE and Andrea K. Watkins and her husband, Philip, of Harbeson, DE; her son-in-law, William White, of Newark, DE; six grandchildren: Dawn Taylor and her husband, Kenny, Andy White, Denise Meredith and her husband Dennis, Audra Matt and her husband, Christopher, Melissa Watson and Matthew Drebing; and her six great-grandchildren: Jesse, Wyatt, Kourtney, Kaitlyn, Jackson and Ryleigh.
A viewing will be held on Friday April 1, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 11:15 AM with Eastern Star Services beginning at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes. Friends may also call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow services at All Saints Cemetery, Harbeson, DE.
