Lura Mae Parsons' Obituary
Lura Mae Parsons, age 83, of Lewes, DE passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehab. Center, in Lewes, DE. She was born Saturday, July 9, 1932 in Newbury, OH, daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Beecroft) Beacher.
Mrs. Parsons worked at the Kent Manufacturing Plant in Chestertown, MD where she lived through the tragic 1954 plant explosion. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and her beautiful vegetable and rose garden. Most of all she enjoyed her time helping raise her grandchildren who were the apples of her eyes. Mrs. Parsons was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and daughter who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parsons was preceded in death by her loving husband, Douglas Parsons, in 2012, her eight siblings and her favorite niece, Linda Scott. She is survived by her two daughters: Denise M. Parsons of Orlando, FL and Carol Ann Parsons of Lewes, DE; her two grandchildren: Marcia Duncan and her companion, Will Scott and Timmy Duncan and his companion, Taryn Shillady; her sister, Sue Bello of Elkton, MD; and her two grand-dogs: Wookie and Buddy.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM. There will be a reception to follow the services, destination to be announced. A big thank you to her nephew Joe Beacher, son of her late beloved brother Joe for providing the reception.
