Luise A. Davies' Obituary
Luise A. Davies, 100, of Georgetown, DE, was taken home to her Lord, peacefully at home, surrounded by family and loved ones on June 12, 2022. Luise was born to Hattie and Warner Frickman on August 3, 1921, in Westfield, NJ.
As a child Luise enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved the beach and was a talented artist from a very young age. She enjoyed these passions throughout her life. After high school, Luise joined the United States Marine Corps where she went on to serve her country as a Corporal.
In the summer of 1944, while on leave, she was spending the day at the beach in Nags Head, North Carolina where she met Ensign H. Chandler Davies of the United States Navy. The two were inseparable from that point on. They were married just a few, short months later and continued life together to celebrate over 68 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. They went on to have 5 children, Diane, Donna, Susan, Robert and John. Luise was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who gave all to her family and filled their home with unconditional love. Faith and family came first and was above all else to her, a value that she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She was one of the most loving, kind, and generous women to ever walk this earth and her family feels blessed to have had her in their lives. The space left by her absence will be impossible to fill, however her family will honor her by continuing to instill these values in generations to come.
Luise was preceded in death by her loving husband, H. Chandler Davies; her parents, Hattie, and Warner Frickman; her daughters Donna Brown and Susan LaPorte; and her sister Elizabeth Jones. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane, and Richard Greenberg; sons Robert and John Davies; brother W. Edward Frickman. Luise is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 5 ½ great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
