Lucille Virginia Goodrich Sames' Obituary
Lucille Virginia Goodrich Sames, age 94, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away at her residence on April 19, 2010. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on September 16. 1915 daughter of the late Elbert Alexander Goodrich and Mary Elizabeth Sutherland Goodrich. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Robert Bryant Sames, a son Raymond G. Sames in 1997 and a grandchild.
During her lifetime she had lived in Plainville, CT, Mt. Pocono, PA, Albany, NY, Manasas, VA, most recently residing in Rehoboth Beach, DE since 1990.
She was an avid painter and social butterfly, a friend to everyone she knew and then some, belonging to the Cape Henlopen Senior Art group. Her life was a full and eventful period while raising her family and working in her career as an Executifve Sales Director in the hospitality industry. During her retirement years she was involved in multiple activities and worked as a hospital volunteer.
Lu, as she was known to most, is survived by two sons, Richard B. Sames and his wife Sherry, and R. Mitchell Sames and his partner Gregory D. Kellas, one daughter Nancy Sames Blough, daughter-in-law Katie Sames-Gluck, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Entombment will be private in Manassas, VA. Friends may call on Friday evening April 23, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
