Louis Vanmansart's Obituary
Louis Vanmansart, age 93, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. He was born November 9, 1916 in Lawrence, MA, son of the late Auguste and Marie (Jans) Vanmansart.
Mr. Vanmansart and his wife moved from New Jersey to Delaware in 1995. Mr. Vanmansart served with the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. During World War II, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and upon separation had achieved the rank of Captain. Following his military service, Louis was a private pilot, a member of the Air Force Association, Rehoboth Beach VFW Post #7447, and a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Rehoboth Beach.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Suzanne (Lawson) Vanmansart; three sons: James H. Vanmansart and his wife Carmen of Lacey, WA, David L. Vanmansart and his wife Andrea of Oakland, NJ and Douglas H. Vanmansart and his wife Patricia of Santa Margarita, CA; one daughter, Kathryn Manganiello and her husband Thomas of Maryville, TN; seven grandchildren: Michael, Jaclyn, David, Jr., Andrea, Shane, Cheyenne, Kylee.
A Memorial Service with Rev. Max Wolf officiating will be held Friday, October 1, 2010, 2:00 PM, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Entombment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
