Louis Bonavito Jr.'s Obituary
Louis Bonavito, Jr., age 84 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Country Rest Home, in Greenwood, DE. He was born on Sunday, August 27, 1933 in White Plains, NY, son of the late Louis and Anna (Brescia) Bonavito.
Louis built a career and dedicated many years to the City of White Plains, NY, working for the Department of Public Works. Upon his retirement in 1989, he and his wife, Shirley, relocated to Rehoboth Beach, DE. A New Yorker at heart, he remained a steadfast and die-hard Yankees fan. Above all, Louis cherished time spent with his adored family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was loved by many and will be genuinely missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his loving son, Louis Bonavito and his brother, Nino Bonavito. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley Bonavito; his daughter, Elizabeth Van Hecke and her husband, Chris; his grandchildren: Christian, Louis, Michael, and Ashley and her husband Charles; and his great-grandchildren: Jackson, Isabella, and Charleigh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue; Rehoboth Beach, DE. A viewing will be held the night prior at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway; Lewes, DE, where friend may call from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Interment will follow the Mass at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, 187 Henlopen Avenue; Rehoboth Beach, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Bonavito's memory to Compassionate Care Hospice of Delaware: 248 East Chestnut Hill Road, Suite 4; Newark, DE 19713 .
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mark and the staff at Country Rest Home and the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice, who made Louis' final days peaceful.
