Lois Mable Peterson's Obituary
Lois Mable Peterson, 95, of Lewes, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2016 in skilled nursing at Cadbury Senior Lifestyles.
She was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 12, 1921 and worked as the secretary to the dean of the Dental School of the University of Minnesota.
Lois was the epitome of Navy wives, traveling up and down the east coast, San Diego, Hawaii, and Scotland. She was the president of the two largest dental wives clubs- San Diego and Washington, D.C. She was a gardener extraordinaire, who constantly won praise for her plants and gardens. At every station she was an active volunteer in knitting groups, church guilds and Red Cross grey ladies. She was a Boy Scouts supporter, winning bridge player and gracious hostess. At the Naval Academy, she was mother in residence to many midshipmen, but especially Scott Provo from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and Philip Cullon of Washington, D.C.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. William A. Peterson, her sons, Charles Peterson of Bethany Beach, DE, and Blaine Peterson of Washougal, WA, and her three grandchildren, Leslie Hartzell of Ocean City, NJ, and Kirstin and William Peterson II, of Washougal WA.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, 211 Mulberry Street, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
