Lois D. Davitt's Obituary
Lois D. Davitt, age 93 of Milton, DE, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving and devoted son, Michael and niece, Joy. She was born on January 10, 1928, in Decatur, AL, daughter of the late George K. and Lois (Bowen) Dutton.
Mrs. Davitt met her husband while working at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. She was a librarian in the technical library, and he was an engineer. Mrs. Davitt was a gracious southern woman, who loved her children and husband. She was his caregiver while he suffered Alzheimer's Disease.
Mrs. Davitt lived with her family in Falls Church, VA and enjoyed spending time together in their condo in Ocean City, MD. In her spare time, Mrs. Davitt loved playing bridge and cooking southern meals for her family. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, celebrating her children's success and careers, and when her son was posted overseas, she took an extended trip to Germany.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davitt was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward P. Davitt. She is survived by her children: Michael Davitt of Milton, DE and Edward Davitt (Chris) of North Port, FL; her grandson, Christopher (Amy) of Richmond, VA; her great grandchildren: Katie and Davis; her sister, Jane Scott of Halifax, VA; and her nieces, Joy Nicoll of Millville, NJ and Mary Meadows of Halifax, VA. Also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 200 2nd Street, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit beginning with 10:00 AM. Friends may also visit at the funeral home on Monday, October 4, 2021, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Interment will take place on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 11:30 AM at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd., VA 22172.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the service.
