Linda Allison Darr's Obituary
Linda Allison Darr, age 78, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Born on April 26, 1947, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, Linda was the daughter of William J. and Margaret W. Allison. She was raised in Indiana, PA, where she attended Indiana High School before going on to pursue a degree in Journalism at Penn State University.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She married John K. Darr in 1976, and they shared 43 years of marriage until John's passing in 2019. Together, they raised two sons, Josh and Chris, and Linda dedicated much of her life to caring for her family.
She had a deep love for antiques, garage sales, and the thrill of finding a great bargain. In her later years, she especially enjoyed working at the Lewes Mercantile Antique Gallery in Lewes, DE, where she also operated her own booth. The search for treasures and the joy of sharing them brought her great happiness.
Linda was a dedicated volunteer to many causes. She was active in supporting school activities from her sons’ elementary through high school, culminating in the role of PTA president of Langley High School. Her joy of volunteering spread into her local communities, most notably for the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and Museum annual Beach Ball fundraiser as well as The Mansion in May to fundraise for a local hospital in Morristown, NJ.
Linda is survived by her sons, Joshua (Mary Beth) Darr of Glenview, IL, and Christopher (Erin) Darr of Hershey, PA; and her five beloved granddaughters: Allison, Annabelle, Emma, Abigail, and Caroline Darr. She is also survived by her brother, David (Debbie) Allison of Spring, TX, and brothers-in-law Bill (Donna) Darr of Indiana, PA, and Tom (Jonelle) Darr of Camp Hill, PA.
The family would like to extend a sincere sentiment of gratitude to Julia Thomas and Suzi Guberman for the love, friendship, and amazing care they afforded her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s honor to the John K. Darr Veteran’s Fund through Meals on Wheels Lewes/Rehoboth at the website https://www.mealsonwheels-lr.org.
