Letty L. Stokaylo's Obituary
Letty L. Stokaylo, age 92, of Lewes, DE passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. She was born on Monday, March 30, 1925 in Kulpmont, PA, daughter of the late Russel Goretsky and Helen (Weslotsky) Goretsky.
Mrs. Stokaylo grew up in Kulpmont and following her high school graduation, she went to work for the US Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She soon met her first husband Marshall Wilson and settled in New Castle, DE where she would raise her family. Several years later following the passing of her first husband, she would marry Walter Stokaylo and remain in New Castle. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Stokaylo worked for several years as an assistant librarian at New Castle Middle School.
Mrs. Stokaylo was a woman of strong faith and was an active parishioner at her local parishes including: Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, New Castle, DE, St. Scholastica Catholic Church, LeCanto, FL and St. Edmond Catholic Church, Rehoboth Beach, DE. In her free time she enjoyed playing the organ, reading and cooking. Most of all, Mrs. Stokaylo loved the time spent with her family and her grandchildren who were the apples of her eyes. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend who will be missed by all whom knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stokaylo was preceded in death by her two husbands, Marshall Wilson and Walter Stokaylo; her son, James Wilson; and her brother Russel Goretsky, Jr. She is survived by her two daughters: Susan L. Ricksgers and Stanley Waggoner of Lewes, DE and Lois A. Campbell and her husband Stephen of Hernando, FL; her six grandchildren: Thomas Ricksgers and his wife Denise, Matthew Ricksgers and his wife Tracie, Jennifer Wilson, James Wilson, Stephen Campbell and Kathryn Campbell; her four great grandchildren: Mason, Anslee, Carson and Silas; and her one sister in law, Ellen Goretsky.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes, DE.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
